  Tami Neilson
Tami Neilson, Canadian-born winner of the New Zealand Tui Award for Best Country Album 2009. With raw energy and talent, her music is a hybrid of acoustic torch and stripped-bare alt-country. From haunting ballads of heartbreak and irony to foot-stomping, hand-clapping, harmony-infused numbers, her live performance is one to be remembered.

  Jodi Vaughan
I remember the very first song I ever sang. It was called “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” and it was in front of my father’s friends , so I knew at around 5 years of age that I wanted to be a singer although I don’t ever recall hearing him sing. At age 16 at a local dance I was invited to sing with the band. The band was “The Tordaoes” I still remember that moment. The song was “He’s Got the Whole World” I was so scared. I stood stock still on the stage .I shook from head to toe but I must have done something right as a couple of weeks later I replaced the original singer. I was told at that point that I should always sing “Country”.

Marriage and 2 children, (daughter Jodie-lea and son Paul) put paid to a singing career for the time being however it was never far away in my destiny. It was after my first marriage failed that I met Greig ..who not only was to become my second husband but to also entice me to leave Australia, visit New Zealand and finally see that Country music was where my talents lay.

1976 Runner –up in TV Ones “Entertainers” saw the beginning of a new life. At the same time I was enjoying the limelight of TV I had also found out I was expecting my 3rd child. I decided to let them both take their course. It worked. I had a baby girl Lissa Jo-An 1977and a successful career.

Nearly 28 years ago now since Gray Bartlett saw my performance on the Entertainers and decided he wanted to be a part of my future. Since then together we have achieved amazing things. My first album was recorded 1978. I joined forces with Brendan Dugan which proved to be a successful union recording an album “Fair-weather Friends”. This album went gold.

We have worked together ever since doing albums, TV Shows, New Zealand Tours, local shows and over seas Tours.

  Barry Saunders
..."From the first nights at Wellington’s Cricketer’s Arms it was clear that The Warratahs had a life of its own. The songs liked the instruments; fiddle, piano, acoustic guitar, mandolin. It was almost like they played themselves and we were somehow in the middle of it all. We recorded after a short time. Maureen and Hands of My Heart were the singles from our first album, followed by Fool’s Paradise, Bruno’s Last Ride, St Peters Rendezvous and the Interislander Song and Rescue Me from later albums. The band has toured and recorded in Australia and New Zealand extensively, and is still very much alive and part of the landscape of this country. It’s a musical home for me and still has the fire that’s been there from the start."

  Catherine Britt
Catherine Britt has come a long way. No longer the innocent teenage girl – who won the praise of Elton John after discovering her during a tour of Australia in 2002 – she’s now an accomplished and mature singer-songwriter. Six years on, this stunning Newcastle-born woman is living an amazing life in both the US and Australia. Catherine has toured, performed and recorded with some of country music’s biggest names and has recorded music with some of Nashville’s finest producers, including Grammy-nominated producer Brett Beavers who produced her latest album, Little Wildflower.
Catherine’s US adventure has been incredibly significant. Along with the experience of living in Nashville and writing and recording with some of music most talented people, she’s been a regular at the annual CMA Music Fesitval for the last couple of years and in the summer of 2007 she opened for one of the major US summer tours: the Brooks & Dunn/Alan Jackson tour.
Little Wildflower is her most honest, revealing and contemporary album yet. It explores a side of Catherine Britt never revealed before, and perhaps a side she wasn’t ready to reveal, until now. It’s an album young women will immediately relate to and an album people of all ages will grow to love and appreciate.

Amos Morris
Amos Morris has been hailed the hottest new up and coming country artist Australia has to offer. Following his 2009 Golden Guitar win for vocal collaboration along with Warren H Williams and John Williamson, it appears Amos is well on his way to stardom.
He won his first Golden Guitar back in 2008 for the Anne Kirkpatrick produced album ʻSign Of The Timesʼ released on Nulla Records through EMI. Amos Morrisʼ live shows display his unique Aussie talent, featuring his own original songs and a tasty blend of country and blues licks on electric and acoustic guitar.
The new album ʻLife Goes Onʼ takes his musical vision a step further with producer Bill Chambers encouraging Amos to broaden his style and play more guitar on his own recording. Apart from an old Hank Snow ballad and a RockaBilly version of Gordon Parsons ʻ Blue Days and Dark Nightsʼ the album highlights Amosʼ own songs about his life experience. Listening to the opening track ʻCome My Brothersʼ a perfect multicultural song for these times, one canʼt help being drawn into a small part of Amosʼ world and taking away a new insight into this delicate topic.
Life indeed does go on for Amos Morris, while the new album seems set to take him down new roads and broader horizons.

  Jim Haynes
Although he claims to be from the outback town of Weelabarabak (“… it’s on the NSW/West Australian border and is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘hard place to find’) rumour has it that Jim Haynes is the son of British migrants who grew up reading Paterson and Lawson and was educated at Sydney Boys’ High School. While teaching in country NSW, he formed the legendary Bandy Bill & Co Bush Band, which had some impressive hits. He also had a solo hit with Mow Ya Lawn, a song that led to that all-important first break in the music business. Jim quit teaching to work in radio and went on to become an author, singer and comedian. In 1990 he started the first Bush Poetry Breakfasts at Tamworth’s during the annual festival. Against all predictions, they were an instant success and, in 1997, moved to the West Tamworth Leagues Club, becoming the phenomenally successful Big Bush Brekky Show, combining Jim’s unique mix of country music and humour with big name guests. He was encouraged by John Williamson’s manager, Phil Matthews, who shared his passion for Aussie music and recognized his songwriting abilities. Phil gave him that all-important first break in the music business and from there Jim went on to write and record many songs, including hits like Since Cheryl Went Feral and Don't Call Wagga Wagga Wagga.

  Lee Brittan
Bunyip label recording star and a legend of the Crystal Palace in Sydney, Lee Brittan is one of this country’s pioneers of modern country music.Lee started his career in the entertainment industry 35 years ago and in that time, has worked along side artists, ranging from Lucky Starr and Buddy Williams, to Reg Lindsay and Allen Caswell and being named “The Voice” by none other than Beccy Cole, has attracted musicians such Michel Rose, Warren Neilson, Pixie Jenkins, Tommy Emmanuel, Lawrie Minson and Stuie French onto his stage. Lee’s current musical project is something different from the usual…. Not unusual for this talented entertainer. His style has always set him apart from others on the scene. Together with his band of honky tonk hillbilly’s… “Mingo” & “The Hairy Godmother”, Lee presents a show that caters to all musical tastes… No matter how diverse! You won’t find any synthesised computerised “canned” music on stage when Lee and the boy’s play. There are no gimmicks, tricks or backing tracks… just musicians who enjoy doing what they do.

  The South Islanders
'The South Islander's' are a quartet that was put together as a 'one time thing' in 2009 in order to take part in the group section at the Auckland Country Music Awards. Things began to snowball for these four young singers after winning the Overall title at the Auckland Awards, thus qualifying them to compete in the 2009 N.Z. Country Music Entertainer of the Year competition, and being lucky enough to win this title also. The group, comprised of Aroha Williams Pascoe, Chris Whitnell, & husband and wife team - Luke & Paula Connor, all currently reside in the Nelson region, though originally hail from Christchurch and Westport. They have all been competing around the New Zealand country music awards circuit for well over 15 years and have picked up numerous titles between them along the way, both individually and as part of various groups and duets.'The South Islander's' bring a country bluegrass flavour to their song selections with a particular focus on great harmony, and are privileged to be sharing their unique sound with you at this year's Norfolk Island festival.
